Mariscal and Hernandez are Oct. Students of the Month

The Perryton Rotary Club hosted the October 2021 Students of the Month at their weekly meeting on Thursday, October 7.   Emmali Mariscal and Abraham Hernandez, along with their parents, joined the club and were recognized for their achievements.  Each student shared about their high school experiences and received a plaque to commemorate the award. They also get a special parking place at PHS for the rest of the month.

Emmali is the daughter of Chrisella and Fabian Mariscal and she has two sisters, Gabriella and Annali.  She is involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, and softball.  She is a manager for the basketball team and participates in the Team Tatum Tournament and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The teacher who has influenced Emmali the most is Mr. David Erickson. “He always encouraged me to do my best and taught me many lessons that I have used throughout high school,” Emmali said.

Her advice to underclassmen would be to enjoy the good and bad of high school. “You always get out what you put into school and daily life.”

As for her future plans, she wants to attend Texas Christian University or Baylor and major in Biology with plans to become a DO or MD. She hasn’t determined a specific field yet.

Abraham’s parents are Krystal and Mac Hernandez. He has three siblings, Jeremiah, Caleb and Emaly.  He participates in football, baseball, basketball, choir, and National Honor Society.

He lists Coach Hab as his biggest influence. Abraham says, “He was the one who introduced relentless effort and positive energy to our program. By doing so, he caused me to practice with those two things.”

His recommendation to those that follow is to “soak in all the memories made and don’t take for granted the time they have.”

Abraham plans to attend college and study kinesiology. He hopes to also play football, baseball or both.
