September Rotary Students of The Month

Two Perryton High School seniors have earned the honor of being the first Students of the Month of the year for the Perryton Rotary Club.   Jocelyn Medina and Jacob Schollenbarger attended a Rotary Club meeting and shared their thoughts about life in high school and their future plans.

Jocelyn is the daughter of Janette and Johnathan Sandoval and she’s the sister of Samantha and Jakobe Sandoval.   She is involved in volleyball, softball and track as well as Student Council and Choir.

She lists Cami Skaggs, Gifted and Talented teacher, as the one who has influenced her the most in her school years. “Her classroom was my escape, somewhere I knew I could think and act upon my ideas freely,” Medina said.

Jocelyn plans to attend Texas A&M and major in Biology on the Pre-Med track.  She then plans to attend med school and become a trauma surgeon.

Jacob is the son of Jeff and Melanie Schollenbarger. He has one sister, Lanie Schollenbarger.  He’s involved in Choir, Theatre, Football and Track with Choir being his favorite subject “because music is my passion,” he says.

When asked about a favorite teacher, Jacob says he has been influenced by so many awesome teachers and coaches that he can’t pick just one.  “Many of their life lessons will stick with me, and I am grateful for them all.”

Jacob plans to attend Colorado Christian University or Dallas Baptist University and pursue a degree in music ministry.

These students will enjoy a special parking place at PHS for a month, in recognition of their honor.
