Eight PHS Students Qualify For

Eight PHS students earned the right to advance to the Regional UIL Academics competition by placing in the top four at the District meet, held March 30, 2019 at Frank Phillips College in Borger.  These students will now compete in the Regional meet April 12-13 at Texas Tech in Lubbock.

Advancing to the next round were:

Madison Attaway - 1st place in Spelling

Jaziel Contreras - 4th place in Computer Science/Programming, 1st place team, 6th place in Mathematics           

Mads Hansen - 2nd place in Computer Science/Programming, 1st place team

Bryan Moreno - 3rd place in Computer Science/Programming, 1st place team,  1st  place in Ready Writing, 3rd place in Science, 4th place in Mathematics—alternate to Regionals, 4th place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate—alternate to Regionals

Cynthia Rojas - 3rd place in Feature Writing, 5th place in Editorial Writing

Chloe Tanner - 2nd place in Literary Criticism

Mireya Trejo - 2nd place in Feature Writing, 5th place in News Writing

Cole Townsend - place in Computer Science/Programming, 1st place team, 2nd  place in Mathematics, 3rd place in Number Sense

Two additional PHS Students placed at the district meet but will not be moving on to Lubbock: Tobi Johnson - 5th place in Informative Speaking and Andy Pena - 5th place in Persuasive Speaking.

Congratulations to all of these students for representing PHS well.
