Farney & Gilbert - April Students of the Month

The April Students of the Month were recognized at the Perryton Rotary Club meeting Tuesday, April 7. Halley Farney and Kade Gilbert joined club members for lunch, and each spoke about their high school experiences as they near the end of their senior year.

Halley is the daughter of Robin and Brent Farney and has three siblings, Zach, Alex, and Cassidy. She is involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, Track, Basketball, Volleyball, and Golf.

Halley lists Math and Science as her favorite subjects because "I enjoy them the most. I love doing labs and knowing the exact steps to solve very difficult problems." She says Coach Slover is her biggest influence, "She never stopped pushing me to be the best I can be."

Halley plans to attend Texas Tech and major in either cell/molecular biology or mechanical engineering. In 15 years, she hopes to have a stable job, be married, start a family, and, most importantly, fulfill God's purpose.

Kade is the son of Mart and Natalie Wagner, and he has lots of siblings; Kinley Gilbert, Mason Wagner, Brynlie Wagner, Grady Gilbert, Qinn Gilbert, and Carter Gilbert. He participates in Football, Basketball, Track, Choir, Robotics, and the Tech team for church.

Kade's favorite subject is Art, "Because I've always liked to draw."  He says Coach Hodge is his most influential teacher, "He's strong in his beliefs and pushes his students to their full potential."

Kade's future plans are to attend Frank Phillips College through the Pathways Program and eventually own his own architectural firm.

Congratulations to these fine students for setting a great example for those who follow them.
